For this project, a mobile website was developed for the Lily Crowdsourcing (desktop) platform built by people at the NTU Emerging Research Lab.
The project draws inspiration from the fact that the number of smartphone users is increasing rapidly. Coupled with the rise in the number of smartphones, the number of elderly embracing the smartphone technology is on the rise as well. There is indeed an explosive demand for products and services that are adapted to the elderly’s needs to improve their quality of life. But how do we know whether the elderly population likes (or dislikes) the design of certain products and services? Lily Crowdsourcing Platform aims to serve as a hub to test the age-friendliness of third-party products. It features with a crowd of wise elderly to test “ageless” products and then submit feedback through their smartphone browsers regardless of the operating system they use.
The project implementation focuses on developing a minimalist user interface comfortable for use by the elderly from their smartphones and tablets. The elderly can view the different available tasks, review the tasks by submitting feedback for the same, earn points for feedback and redeem rewards based on the points they collect. The entire project has been developed using jQuery Mobile as the framework, JavaScript as the client-side scripting language and HTML 5 and CSS 3 for the appearance of the webpages. |
