Description
Summary:This project involves of designing and developing a robotic system that can be accessed and controlled remotely through real-time communication network. The robotic system is based on the Raspberry Pi board acting as a gateway in between the Arduino board and the Android device that is connected through a Local Area Network (LAN). Android applications were developed in order to control the movements of the robot according to the direction set by the users and displaying real- time video feedback capture by the robot. VLC and Motion JPG media servers were implemented to examine the latencies and the CPU usage needed while processing the applications on the Raspberry Pi since both streaming methodologies were widely used for streaming real-time video over the network. In addition, other media players beside the Android applications developed were also able to view the stream videos from a personal computer or a web browser over the real-time communication network.
