Summary: | Cognitive radio technology is a revolutionary communication paradigm that utilizes existing wireless spectrum resources more efficiently, yet at the same time introduces the complexity of human users that are intelligent and have the ability to observe, learn and act to optimize their performance with regards to these resources that are available. The aim of this project is to model and simulate these rational users that aim to maximise their own performance in spite of all the other users doing exactly the same thing in the context of the frequency channel sharing problem in a non-cooperative framework using game theory.
In this project, I will introduce the users (players) in the context of an auction framework. Then I will propose a game by defining their utility functions and state their strategies and the mechanism used to determine resource allocation. Afterwards, with the use of MATLAB, I will simulate the game I have proposed to find the Nash equilibrium of this game, I will also introduce a slightly more complicated game and compare existing auction mechanisms with regard to the framework I have proposed and once again simulate on MATLAB to find the Nash equilibrium for each of the various mechanisms and use various parameters to determine which mechanism is the “best” |
