A convergence of information technologies and advancements in web design have created a strong platform for designing efficient, secure, and convenient applications that can be remotely accessed from anywhere at any time. The objective of this final year project is to develop an interactive web-based equipment management system. The system aims to provide a smart dashboard for monitoring and analysing the health of heavy machinery equipment in an industrial facility’s operation. In this project I have implemented a system that is able to assist users in supervising the operation of heavy machinery equipment such as motors, generators, and transformers in an industrial facility. The web application offers an interactive interface with various different functionalities which include addition, deletion and edition of business rules, periodic status updates, and provision of corrective actions that can be taken during unforeseen circumstances. The system provides a detailed analysis of the status of each piece of equipment by performing a comprehensive comparison of inspected data records with existing rules and providing a good estimate of the performance of the corresponding piece of equipment in a graphical form. In addition to this functionality, the application can also generate properly formatted reports containing charts, tables and suggestions which can be used to improve the overall performance of an industry’s technical components. I have tested this application using a pre-defined dataset to ensure efficient and robust handling of the system. The application design, difficulties encountered during design and development, strengths and weaknesses of the system and the recommendations for improvement have also been documented in this report.
