Automated Storage and Retrieval System is a new scheme which enables container port operations to
avoid the stacking of containers in the container yard. It does so by storing containers into shelves
which enables the operators to retrieve a container without unstacking them. It hopes to reduce the
port operations time and therefore saving valuable resources.
In order to see how efficient the ASRS could be, a simulator is created to show how it would behave
in a simulated environment. The simulator uses agents to carry out the storing and retrieving
processes. This report discusses what rules are applied on the agent in order for it to achieve the
correct behavior.
The ASRS has various policies to streamline the efficiency of the storage and retrieval processes. The
main objective of this report is to study how these policies and variables affects the efficiency of the
ASRS system. |
