Description
Summary:One of the many health concerns that come with ageing is the decline of memory and cognitive skills of the elderly, which includes prospective memory. Prospective memory is related to majority of an individual's everyday memory and can affect one's daily activities extensively. Although the decline of prospective memory cannot be fully avoided in general, it is possible to implement ways to minimise prospective memory failures and their potentially disastrous consequences. The purpose of this project is to build on an existing game to include an additional second stage, allowing for a more complete analysis and evaluation of the prospective memory of elderly via the introduction of a time-based prospective memory task. The project is a combination of existing game features with modern technology i.e., Leap Motion Controller using software such as Autodesk Maya and Unity 3D. The additional second stage was further made up of a main mission and a mini-quest that allowed for the simulation of a time-based prospective memory task. Each section was specially designed to follow a set of guidelines listed by Eldergames project group to ensure usability of the targeted elderly group. The report will also describe the entire development process, the various design concepts and implementation, as well as future recommendations of this game project.
