Summary: | In this paper, Singaporeans’ subjective well-being derived from dwellings is explored through Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Only the middle tiers, namely, Safety, Love/Belonging and Esteem are considered in this study due to their revelance in the context of Singapore. Also, a total of 107 Singaporeans participated in the survey; some responded through online platforms, while others participated in face-to-face interviews. Two statistical methods - frequency distribution and regression - were employed to analyse the data gathered. The results show that Singaporeans generally feel satisfied with their lives. However, among the three tiers, Love/Belonging is the only tier to have significance in affecting Singaporeans’ well-being. In addition, the type of housing is also found to be significant in affecting one’s well-being. |
