The proliferation of multinational corporations (MNCs) and government-linked companies (GLCs) has enabled Singapore to sustain steady economic growth for the past three decades. However, it has been recognised that the local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have to play a more significant role if Singapore is to be assured of continued economic growth. In view of such a policy, Singaporeans are being encouraged to be more entrepreneurial and the talent of successful Singaporean entrepreneurs is finally winning public accolades.
