Summary:This study examines the consequences brought about by rapid population ageing in Singapore. It focuses on the impact of population ageing on the country's labour force, and its implications for the health care system, housing policies and the demand for institutional facilities. It is also concerned with ascertaining how the Government can ensure the financial security of the aged in their old age. The discussion of the likely effects of population ageing on these key areas is followed by recommendations which can help to deal with the issues raised.
