Personal to every individual, these nostalgic memories are what make a person and place so unique. Singapore has developed so rapidly that places, tradition and culture, imperative to our foundation, is diminishing rapidly. In this research about kueh, I discovered my roots. My great grand mother is Peranakan, my great grand father is Teochew, while my grandparents are Hokkien. This fusion of dialects brings about the vibrancy of cultures, which my project wishes to convey. The final outcome would be a food packaging and accompanying deliverables that addresses the traditional aspects of food making. It will be a creation of a new contemporary food language that conveys aspects of a popular Asian food culture. It is reminiscent of a heartwarming experience one has when dining with family and to inform and educate fresh eyes about traditional food culture.
