Secondary research had been pursued in order to give an initial view on the country through the application of a PEST analysis as well as the examination the case company with a TOWS (Threats, Opportunities, Weaknesses, and Strengths) analysis 1. A field trip to Mongolia in June 2013 included interviewing executives from Clean Energy LLC, the company that developed and operated the first wind park in Mongolia; Clean Energy Asia, a developer for future wind projects; and The Asia Foundation, an NGO operating in Mongolia, built the foundation for the primary analysis. Findings concerning the evaluation of investment opportunities in the sector were presented and analyzed on country-specific aspects. From an investors' perspective, conclusions are drawn, which support the forming of opinions for the future prospects, capabilities and limitations of the market. Opportunities and obstacles are weighed to obtain a holistic view on the renewable energy sector and its developments in Mongolia.
