Summary: | Due to the increasing population of Singapore as well as the transport vehicles, more roads will
be built to keep up with the increasing demand. With the limited land space of Singapore, most
of these roads will be built underground as road tunnel.
Due to the enclosed space of the tunnel, the air quality inside the tunnel is usually at a lower
quality than the open roads. The ventilation building installed controls the air qualities of the
tunnel. Temperature is one of the important air qualities that are monitored closely by the sensor
installed in the tunnel. Temperature affect human in many ways that includes affecting human
concentration level, causes dizziness and causes smog in tunnel that affect visions.
Temperatures are directly affected by the amount and composition of the vehicle fleet.
Temperatures are affected by the heat flux from the vehicle surface as well as the vehicle
exhaust gas temperature. Hence this report focuses on these two point sources of heat flux from
the vehicle.
Experimental test run of different vehicles were carried out at different travelling speed to
simulate the different hours of the day. The results were then use to construct an excel sheet
which the composition of vehicles are changeable. The results will be compared to estimated
results where vehicle will be installed with waste heat recovery system. |
