Summary: | ITERATIONS is a set of art objects that references vernacular sourced from the business workplace.
By the relocation of these items as art objects, spectators are required to negotiate the ideological and
perceptual forms of society's denatured gaze. Specifically:
a. ITERATIONS uses corporate vernacular to pronounce today’s capitalist society. This allows
viewers to approach and question their own ideological and perceptual genesis through it’s
byproduct: where expectations are already so predominantly impersonal and set that even claims to
reality are unrealistic. ITERATIONS therefore acts as a parasitical installation within the
‘graduation show’ setting.
b. ITERATIONS is essentially aesthetics grafted from parts of our objectified culture. This is so, not
only in the objects I choose to manipulate, but it is also established through art history that affirms
authority over the material. The body of work becomes a conscious iteration of our visual
anthropology.
c. ITERATIONS is an expansion of the post-internet understanding of the world where it recognizes
how today’s audiences negotiate the art through its extensions over the web. The body of work
politicizes its digital and its physical renders as equal fronts of the artwork. The work readily
becomes a constellation of formal quotations built to be shared such that they become image-objects
themselves. |
