Description
Summary:The content of this report covers a numerical study of boundary layer flow over a moving plate. The main aim of the study is to investigate heat transfer to and from a moving surface. The governing equations for the system were modeled through mathematical manipulation of existing known equations relating to heat transfer and boundary layer flow. The modeled governing equations were then solved with the use of “MATLAB”, a high-level language and interactive environment for numerical computation, visualization and programming. Previous works that are related to the study were analyzed and researched upon extensively. Relevant topics are documented in the literature review chapter of this report. The numerical solutions were analyzed, interpreted and presented in a detailed analysis in this report. The numerical results cover areas such as the relationship between parameters of the governing equations, for example eta and the skin friction coefficient. Velocity profile and temperature profile were also included in the study of the system. After interpretation of the results, a conclusion was drawn to determine whether parameters such as the reactant consumption and activation energy level have a vital role in the problem and that the modeled governing equations are valid and applicable for use in this problem.
