Despite of the need to obtain rich quality of the motion captured, the limitation of network bandwidth and storage space had lead to the constraint to the size of the motion captured data. In order to synthesize natural and realistic motion from existing motion capture database particularly in the context of video game and film making, the compression procedure enables efficient management. In this report, we explore the characteristics of motion capture data and propose a single efficient technique to compress the Mocap data. The project works to achieve a compression technique of removing both spatial and temporal redundancy. In particular, to remove temporal redundancy, differential encoding will be use, while for spatial redundancy, discrete Cosine Transform(DCT) would be employ. Motion data captured compressed would be lossy in content, thererfore, the compressed Mocap data is not the same as the original but a close approximation to the original Mocap data.
