Description
Summary:This Final Year Project report serves to describe the design and integration of human factors engineering for occupant packaging on the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). The author was tasked to study human factors engineering with an important emphasis on applying human ergonomics in the design of occupant packaging. This is the third batch of final year students working on the BEV. The author researched on the systems requiring human ergonomics in car design. A manikin was first designed and developed to aid in the design and position of car seats. A further analysis was done to determine the structural strength of chassis for the installation of car seats. The research on the design and integration of pedals was also required in the project. The author also researched and monitored the centre of gravity (CG) adjustments in the car due to design iterations to ensure that the car achieves the intended weight distribution. The author was privileged to work with dedicated team members to ensure all systems are designed and integrated accurately. The team effort was vital in the progression of the project.
