Summary: | The interest in electric cars has been revived due to rising concerns regarding carbon emission, together with the growing need to reduce the reliance on crude oil. Clean technology of electric cars has proved to become an increasingly attractive option as less pollution is contributed. The threat of global warming has also forced automotive manufacturers to a more viable, eco-friendly solution.
This project aims to explore the concept of electric cars as a solution for cities with a high number of automotive users. The project delves further into the research and development of Battery Electric Cars, understanding the working principle of electric cars and applying key engineering concept to design the school’s very own Battery Electric Car.
The author’s role in the project involved the analysis of the rear subframe and the design and integration of related subcomponent to the rear subframe. Some chassis design was also researched, together with theories and design of the bumper system for the electric car. The report aims to give a complete overview on the subsystems related to the rear subframe and design method chosen for all component designs. |
