The air-conditioning system consumed huge amount of electricity, and it incurred high incremental electricity cost. Absorption refrigeration system provides an alternative solution to these issues. A study on a newly built single-effect absorption refrigeration cycle using a novel working fluid pair with R-134a as the refrigerant and ionic liquid [BMIM][BF4] as the absorbent is reported here. The report focuses mainly on understanding the working principle, installation and starting up of the absorption refrigeration system. Installations of the system components are discussed and leakage testing is performed during the preparation. The challenges in this project were reviewed for the absorption refrigeration system, and the recommended future work is suggested.
