Summary: | High power Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are more and more important in energy-saving and Solid State Lighting (SSL). They are widely used for stadium lighting, automatic lighting, domestic lighting because of the advantages of high luminous flux output, long operating lifetime, instant lighting etc.
Generally, high power LEDs are powered with constant current sources. However, if one LED in a LED module becomes weak and the loading on the weak LED remains the same, this will speed up the degradation of the weak LED. The purpose of this project is to develop a load balancing technology for high power LED modules with constant current source in order to minimise the degradation of LEDs and extending LEDs lifespan for the appropriate modules. This report describes various sections including the entire designing procedure, concept of the designed circuit, selection of components, testing results and further analysis etc. |
