Description
Summary:In the 21st century, the world has stepped into a new era whereby technology makes a lot of things possible. The dream to narrow the gap of hospitals and patients will be no longer be mission impossible. The purpose of the student’s project is to enable patient to communicate with doctors in the hospitals via a website without the need to be physically in the hospitals. This is a new technology innovation for sustainability healthcare industry. With reference to Liak Teng Lit, CEO of Singapore’s Alexendra Health Systems two years ago, one of the fastest growing problems for the health care industry is the aging population. He mentioned that in 20 years’ time, Singapore will house more than 300,000 elderly; some of them will be bedridden and many will be suffering from dementia. [1] This newly developed system is able to bring convenience to the elderly without the need for them to personally make a visit to the hospitals. On top of that, The SingHealth group recorded 3 million patient visits per year. [2] This strongly indicates a high demand for this system as patients will now be able to seek consultation or follow-up check-up with doctors from their home instead of making trips to hospital. This new innovative system consists mainly of website and some microcontroller and processor hardware which able to capture users’ (patients) biological signal through the sensors embedded in the microcontroller. Those hardware will replace the traditional doctor equipment’s like stethoscopes, electronic ear thermometer and etc. The website serves as a platform the doctors and users (patients) to interact. The doctors are able to analyse the users’ biological signals and condition simply via the website. The website captures all the information detected through the hardware used by the users and are delivered to the doctor. By using all of the information gathered by the system, doctors will be able to diagnose the user’s sickness or condition.
