Summary: | The emergence of Collaborative Product Commerce (CPC) in recent years and the successful deployment of its technology by the aerospace and automobile industries have prompted the contemplation of applying CPC to the hard disk drive (HDD) industry. One of the biggest HDD manufacturers, Seagate Technology, had acquired such technology to streamline its operations. However the actual benefits and viability of implementing CPC solutions in the HDD industry has never been impartially investigated. An attempt was made in this research to analyze the operations of the HDD industry and the workings of commercially available CPC solutions to investigate the requirements the 2 parties have of each other and discover any implementation issues involved. |
