Description
Summary:Ultrasonic welding of thermoplastics (UWT) is a complicated joining process in which many factors affect the welding process and weld quality. Although it is widely used for fusion bonding of thermoplastics, the mechanism of this joining process has not been well understood. Existing knowledge about UWT is largely qualitative based on extensive experience and trial-and-error studies. This research aims to better understand the thermal and mechanical aspects of the welding mechanism of this technique through precision measurement and numerical simulation.
