It is a collaboration project between (Technische Universität München) TUM and (Nanyang Technological University) NTU under the joint research program TUM-CREATE. A team of two final year students is formed to design and build working solutions for the current prototype of the multi-purpose electric scooter that is designed by the previous FYP team. It was decided that there were two key areas that were in important need of improvement; one of which was the main stand, where the other the hinge of the passenger compartment of the taxi scooter. Throughout the project there were other areas that were improved for the electric scooter, namely the battery compartment and the steering clamp. The Author was tasked with the design of an appropriate main stand for the scooter to be used during parking. For this, the author started with a literature review on other types of stands which may have application possibility to the Scooter. After which a design process was done to design a scooter. This included the definition of its purpose, design elements and optimization was done. This was followed by the manufacturing process of the prototype and finally the integration to the current prototype. Apart from the motorcycle stand, the author also did additional improvements to the battery housing of the scooter as well as the steering clamp. With the help of the supervisor at TUM-Create, successfully designed and fabricated the other parts. Throughout the project, the team helped with various exhibitions to showcase the scooter in the school and at TUM-Create. The team was also involved in a video shoot showcasing the engineering success of the School and TUM-Create. This project is part of a group project to design and improve the design of a previously designed multi-purpose scooter.
