Summary:Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) has been demonstrated as an effective photocatalyst in wastewater treatment to degrade organic contaminants. Thus, it has been further modified using various methods to improve its photocatalytic characteristic under visible light. Improved TiO2 species such as Degussa P25 TiO2 and Nanoporous anatase TiO2 mesocrystal have achieved high level of performance in many photocatalytic application. In this project, anatase TiO2 mesocrystal is further modified with metal sufide such as Copper (II) Sulfide and Silver (I) Sulfide by using L-Cysteine as a linker. The combination TiO2 and metal sufide aims to prevent the recombination of electrons and holes by prolong the reaction path. Introduction of this report covers the background studies of Emerging Organic Contaminants (EOCs), followed by the information of modified TiO2 materials base on the latest research. The main body of this report starts with the mechanism of the reaction and proposed ideology of the project. Next, the experimental procedures followed by the key results analysis and discussions will be presented in more detail. Last but not least, conclusion of the experiment and recommendations will be suggested at the end of this report, this also serves as a reference for future study.
