Hence, it has become essential to know the rainfall patterns in the area which prone to heavy rainfall events. By knowing the rainfall pattern, flood can be predicted. This study aims to study the rainfall patterns for Jakarta. This is achieved by comparing and analyzing the rainfall patterns shown in Intensity Duration Frequency (IDF) curves, plots of Annual Total Rainfall Depth and 1-Day, 2-Day and 3-Day Annual Maximum Rainfall Depth constructed with Aphrodite and Paper Ground Station rainfall data. The IDF curves show that heavy rainfall events are occurring in every 5 years to 500 years. It is also observed from the plots that there is also an interval of 3-5 years between years that had high annual total and maximum rainfall depths. Hence, heavy rainfall events which may lead to rain-induced flood are estimated to occur in every 5 years.
