The purpose of the project is to develop the Data Acquisition (DAQ) System for Smart Grid. Firstly, the setting of the DAQ system to connect the various sensors such as wind direction and wind speed smart sensors with the data acquisition device, Hobo U30 Data Logger, so that computer program is able to get the data from Data Logger send by external sensors. Hobo Data Logger receives parameter of wind such as wind speed, gust speed and wind direction from external sensors every one minute. Users are able to view and download the data from GUI. The connection between Hobolink and PI server is using JAVA coding, which was programmed by the previous FYP student. As a result, the data can be downloaded to PI server which is the desktop computer in the laboratory. After the data are downloaded to PI server, users can view, analyze, archive and deliver the data for further development. The author then programmed the data downloaded to be able to display on Microsoft Excel Sheet. Thereafter, Python coding was used to send the data from Microsoft Excel to MatikonOPC Explorer. MatrikonOPC Tunneller was then used in order to communicate between two computers to enable data sending from the PI system to the LabVIEW Computer. This is to sent data between the MatrikonOPC Explorer installed on the two computers.
