Summary:The term ceramics is defined as any of a class of inorganic and non-metallic solid materials. In today context, with the advancement of science and technology, almost everything you could see around you could be ceramics or a product with ceramics materials. The author is not referring to the commonly seen white wares, clay and pottery that are invented centuries ago, that are still in used today. The advanced ceramics that have been thoroughly researched, developed and customized to suit the demands of digital revolution in the information age. This report will look into the optical properties of ceramics, the applications and a few other products that you have definitely seen or heard before such as optical fiber communication, television technology and sapphire crystals.
