Summary:A microgrid consists of several electric power generators that supply electricity and heat to a group of customers. Microgrids can be consist of a limited number of residential homes that are interconnected with each other and form an isolated power system independent from the large utility grid. Microgrid is a small-scale power supply network that also acts as a backup power supply source in time of emergency. The amount of greenhouse gases emitted can be reduce with the use of connecting renewable energy to the microgrid. The microgrid on different situations, can operate in grid-connected mode, or island mode.
