Summary: | This report serves to show the progress of the Final Year Project since its commencement on 21st August 2013. The student was supervised by Dr Anshuman Tripathi, senior scientist, Energy Research Institute at NTU (ERI@N) and main supervisor, Associate Professor Tseng King Jet. The main objective of the project is to design a generator controller using Simulink/Matlab and applying it onto a real time application if time permits. The rationale in using Simulink/Matlab for the design of generator controller was due to its flexibility in creating simulations and reduced use of complex coding as compare to conventional expensive hardware prototype design methods.
In the project, the field oriented control was used as the main focus in the development of the end product. The development of the current and speed controllers using PI tuning were done in order to control the quadrature current while fixing the direct current as zero. In addition, space vector modulation was performed to obtain the time duration of each IGBT/diode leg in order to control the voltage output. |
