Summary: | Radio over Fiber refers to a technology where fiber cable is the media to transmit radio signals from base station to remote station for wireless communications. As compared to one of the transmission media coaxial cable, fiber cable has many advantages, such as low attenuation loss, large bandwidth and immunity to radio frequency interference. Therefore, it is widely used in in-building antenna remote systems.
The objective of this project is to design and fabricate a broad band fiber optic transceiver for RF signal transmission links which cover 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 2.4 GHz frequency band.
An elliptic low pass filter with cutoff frequency at 2.5GHz is designed to filter out the undesirable signals. A current driver circuit using current source device to control the laser current is designed. A ROF transceiver module using Avago AFBR-1310Z and AFBR-2310Z is designed and tested. |
