Description
Summary:Three dimensional (3-D) visualization of complex technical data is an important and challenging area of study. It can be applied to many applications such as ultra-wide band ground penetrating radar imaging, biomedical imaging, computational electromagnetics, etc. It is important because many problems can only be understood from a whole picture; it is challenging because the data size is very often large and needs complex reconstruction algorithm. The main objective of this project is to study various image reconstruction and 3-D visualization techniques and necessary data processing techniques for visualizing complex technical data, in particular radar imaging data and biomedical imaging data to help result visualization and understanding. The Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Computed Tomography (CT) sample datasets were analyzed in this project. Matlab Image Processing Toolbox and Medical Image Viewing software were used for image reconstruction and visualization. The 3-D visualizations from various methods of the sample 2-D data were constructed and vivid visualization was achieved.
