Industrial attachment report AY2012/2013

Noise and vibration are two crucial components of machinery stability and crew habitability for offshore installations, ships, buildings etc. Failure to maintain low levels of noise and vibration will cause instability and harm to both machinery and crew. These levels are often reflected in internat...

These levels are often reflected in international standards pertaining to different structures, vehicles or applications. In order to ensure that an installation or ship adheres to a certain standard, analysing and testing of noise and vibration levels are carried out with specialised equipment. The objective of this report is to explain in detail the experiences the author went through while carrying out the necessary steps for these tests. Equipment like a Vibration FFT Analyser and Sound Level Meter were used. Testing was done on an offshore Wind Turbine Installer and an offshore rig. 2014-08-13T07:32:39Z 2014-08-13T07:32:39Z 2013 2013 Industrial Attachment (IA) http://hdl.handle.net/10356/61693 en Nanyang Technological University 56 p. application/pdf
