The purpose of this program is to allow students to apply what they have learnt in a real working environment. In addition, it also aims to instill in students the right kind of working attitude and work professionalism. I have been completing my attachment at Exxon Mobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, with the Asia Pacific Area Engineering Office (APAEO). As APAEO is a consultancy department, I got the opportunity to work with many of the engineering specialist with years of experience under their belt. In addition, the office regularly organizes technical speaking forums which proved to be great insight avenues into the engineering world. I was assigned several projects, including building new application tools as well as maintaining and enhancing existing programs that are being used for business planning and optimization. I have made considerable improvements to some existing programs to enhance processing time, provide better user interface, as well as add in new features. Furthermore, I have also developed some new tools to save working time consumption and increase the convenience in working with some currently used programs. In order to achieve these tasks, I have to apply knowledge and skills obtained from the university into realistic scenarios, make use of Visual Basic for Excel programming language skills as well as learn how to work on different in-house software of ExxonMobil. Through the development of these projects, it provided me with extensive opportunities to improve my programming skills, chemical refining knowledge, project-handling abilities as well as the necessary communication skills. Moreover, this period also gave me a chance to keep abreast with the dynamic changing industry. Henceforth, more unforeseen benefits may be achieved in the future. 2014-08-14T05:11:00Z 2014-08-14T05:11:00Z 2012 2012 Industrial Attachment (IA) http://hdl.handle.net/10356/61709 en Nanyang Technological University 33 p. application/pdf
