Description
Summary:This Final Year Project (FYP) is a collaboration between two FYP students, Clement Ow and Lim Jun Sheng, to develop a holistic and simplistic Courier Service Management System that will cater to the specific needs in the industry. This dissertation will focus on the frontend component of the system. After collating all possible studies and researches done presently, the frontend component will be developed by Clement. The website was designed using mainly Bootstrap, HTML, JavaScript, PHP and implemented using the Wordpress content management system (CMS). Features include responsive design, on-the-fly form validation, one-click address lookup, simplified request logger, verification of mobile number and automated confirmation email. The Android application was mainly designed using Eclipse with Android SDK. Features include customised jobs list, one-touch dialing, easy navigation to destination, automated job done confirmation email and the ability to report sick from the application. The purpose of this project is to provide users with a simplified courier request logger to minimise the user process. A clean and user-friendly user interface (UI) has to be constructed to attract users to use the system. Furthermore to tie in with the system‟s objectives, an Android application is also needed to be catered to the courier service personnel to improve workflow processes and increase productivity and efficiency. A survey was conducted to a group of users to review the features of the system. Most users were impressed by the clean and simple UI of both the website and Android application. Some users thought that the some features were great ideas to improve efficiency while others added that they were fantastic ideas in promoting convenience on the road. It was revealed that the survey conducted met the needs and objectives of the users and an impressive 77.8% and 88.9% of survey respondents felt that they would use the Courier Management website and Android application again respectively.
