With collaboration with BMW Munich, hazard conditions obtain from their servers and push to Android device and Google Glass. Driver will wear the Google Glass and be informed of the hazard condition where the driver locates and be prepared to make the necessary actions before coming into close quarters with hazards. This project also serves to better improve the current driving system. Roads hazards such as traffic congestions, road works or broken down vehicle are hazardous conditions that road drivers would like to avoid. The role of Local Hazard Warning application is to provide the hazard conditions obtained from BMW backend servers and push the data to Android device and Google Glass once the driver’s position has enter the hazardous region. Not only can Local Hazard Warning application serves as a notification informer to both devices, it serves as a navigation application that driver could tap on their destination location and the application will return the best route from the driver’s current position to destination address with total distance and estimated time duration. In this project, the student has the opportunity to work with Google Glass hardware together with Android device. As this project involves heavy development on the Android device, a detailed explanation on the individual steps of Android development and the flow of the entire application.
