The aim of the final year project is to understand how to implement a radar prototype on an Unmanned Arial Vehicle and develop a fixed wing unmanned aerial vehicle which can perform automatically flying according to the way points and utilise a gimbal to fix the camera to a certain angle. Author also took part in a competition held in Australia UAV Outback Challenge under the category of Search and Rescue Challenge a month ago. The purpose of the competition was to search and rescue a lost guy in the wilderness of Australia. The flight controller was decided to be PIXHAWK, and the final competition aircraft airframe was scratch built based on the Mugin UAV. Our team, made up of four people, competed to get an invitation to the final of the competition after three rounds of deliveries and became the only Asian team made it to the final.
