Description
Summary:With the success and widespread usage of fiber optics communication systems for data communication, it sparked the interest in the implementation of the next level of optics communication, the optical wireless communication (OWC). One category of OWC is of particular interest to us and that is the Free Space Optical (FSO) communication system. Although such systems have no laws of physics against it, one major drawback is the high attenuation when propagating through the unguided medium, which is the atmosphere. Hence, a study on the FSO communication system is necessary for future implementation of such systems, especially in the context of tropical countries like Singapore where rainfall intensity is high, which results in high losses due to scatterings.
