Summary:This report presents a research on three-dimensional (3D) structure carbon based aerogel-Graphene Oxide (GO) which are being developed as a sorbent for water treatment. The synthesis principle and the chemical reactions of GO production are elaborated. During the 3D assembly process, the effects of changing conditions, parameters and chemicals on the morphology, mechanical properties and absorbability of the GO are also discussed. Several analytical techniques are carried out to assist on determination of the optimal experimental parameters and to further improve the GO quality. At the end, future development direction of 3D GO composites combining with certain nanoparticles are recommended.
