Description
Summary:Analyzing the movements of subjects with affected mobility has been one of the mainstay projects in the fields of sports, medicine and physiotherapy. This project aims to realize the bridging of the gap between the needs in these niche areas and the flex sensor technology through a course of testing, programming and consultation with field experts. The study examines Spectra flex sensor technology chosen through a careful evaluation of its feasibility for the purposes of this project. Arduino and Python programs were used in to support the prototype hardware created. Numerous trials were conducted for the optimal way of integrating and securing the flex sensors on the glove, as well as to design a viable circuit for the best method of measuring finger degree bend. Explanation of the flow of codes written for Arduino and Python on how raw data are processed and use to visualise the finger movement. The preliminary results of the coursework include finger visualizations on Python software with the use of the prototype gloves and a discussion of its success and limitations. Following a multi-dimensional consideration of preliminary results, some recommendations like tapping on other platforms or new features will also be put forward to further improvement.
