| Summary: | The basis of this project is the study of mask in social, historical and cultural context. The project aims to dissect the definitions of masks, pulling out certain fragments and drawing parallels. Fragments and dissected definitions are thus pieced together, creating a new way of looking at masks, through ample research and fragmentation. A mask works its way subtly through our lives without us even realizing it. We put on masks in front of family, friends, and enemies, practically everyone. We curate and manipulate the way we want others to see us – mostly to our advantage. There are perhaps even more meanings and definitions of masks to uncover, and one might do so through this project. The end product would be visual representations and interpretations, acting as metaphors that symbolize the key elements that the project is trying to put across. |
