Description
Summary:Techniques for automatic assessment of essay writing are still in its infancy. Most of these automatic assessments do not cater to specific domains and work with general essay types. Hence there is a need to further improve these existing techniques and to devise new methods that are specific to an examination in order to improve the accuracy. This project aims to utilize and build upon existing techniques, and propose additional techniques that are able to comprehensively assess PSLE English situational writing essays. Much of the research work has been devoted to discovering the best techniques in similarity assessment and content point assessment. Existing linguistic measures such as grammar checking, spell-check, syntactic complexity and lexical richness are also incorporated into the project.
