In this project, we contextualise to geospatial data and its accompanying technologies. Though still at the infancy phase, they prove to be a challenging space with insurmountable potential. This project also seeks to get this valuable data out to the masses effectively, and that is most achievable via a geospatial web application that transmits data over the Internet. Existing geospatial systems currently exist for other catastrophe in other regions, but not seismic hazards in Southeast Asia (mainly covering Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore). Indonesia is a earthquake-prone area, and tremors often hit its neighbours in the region as well. Thus, a Seismic Geographical Information System (GIS) for this purpose, as developed in this project, would prove relevant and valuable to the community. In this project, I built upon several frameworks and applications to develop the multiple interfaces that carry out different server and client functions. I then integrated the components together with various communication and integration tools, such as the REST API, to make up the full web application stack of our Seismic GIS.
