Description
Summary:Little Maud is a film about a father who has overwhelming love for his daughter, and worries about her potential distance from him as she grows older. This is a story that is easily relatable both to a parental and teen audience as it is a passage of growing up and life. In the film, Maud wakes up from a nightmare and calls for her father, who quickly comes to her aside and rocks her back to sleep. While this is happening, he, himself, starts to fall into his own nightmare, his daughter pushing him away as she grows older. This escalates into a whirlwind of scenarios that the film juxtapositions, with memories from Maud as a child to imaginary scenes with her growing into an adult. An interest in the film’s production design was what led me to take up the role of Production Designer. Firstly, the film had an element of fantasy, with the motif being based around dreams and imaginary scenarios, meaning that the rules of fundamental physics needn’t be applicable. There was also an allowance of making scenes more colorful and vivid, or dark and detrimental than a typical drama film. Little Maud was also planning to be heavily involved with a lot of green screen shots, something that would have challenged the production design overall.
