Summary: | This report aims to reflect the entire process, from conceptualisation to production and postproduction of the Director/Producer of 5 Dollars for a Passport by myself, Ye Ruicheng (Jason). We will look at the issues and concepts that inspired me to make this documentary, which mostly discusses the idea of memory and how it shapes our understanding of the world. We will then discuss why we chose to shoot on 16mm celluloid film and the logistical challenges involved with that, as we live in a world that has mostly forgotten about shooting on film. Finally, we can evaluate how successful this project was in conveying the messages which I had intended it for and the learning points we can take away from both the physical production of the documentary and conceptualising it in terms of content. |
