On a personal note, I wanted to know how I might contribute to enriching the lives of people in old age as my parents are aging themselves. As the current generation gets increasingly caught up with their careers and dreams, it seems like familial ties are taking a back seat and intergenerational relations weaken. Thus I wanted to address this issue using a creative intervention, to promote relations between the Elderly and their love ones. By adopting a designing with users approach, I co-created a series of Mementos Book with the elderly participants using stories of their past and sharing of important life values that I gathered via interviews. In addition, other outputs from the project also included accompanying packaging material, interview footages as well as a website that acts a face for the project and future extension into a non-profit organisation or social enterprise. It is my hope that the outcome of the project will help foster relation and communication between the elderly participants and their love ones.
