Description
Summary:The script is centred around one single question, “Is a mail-order marriage acceptable?” To answer this, Ordering Love follows two completely opposite journeys. The first is of a mother who goes through the stages of opposition, prevention, understanding to acceptance. The second is of a potential groom who grows from decision, challenges, realisation to confrontation. Supportive characters provide insights and knowledge on the topic of mail-order bride, painting a comprehensive and coherent picture of prevailing social attitude toward the issue. The screenplay seeks to explore the psychology of the different parties involved in the process of getting a Vietnamese mail-order bride. These concerned parties include the future groom, his parents, his friends, the foreign bride and the agent. The script explores thematic topics such as family, acceptance, courage, love, personal image, feminism and xenophobia. The script is a family dramedy, which helps to deal with the serious issue while providing comedic relief with the clashes of cultures and beliefs. Its highly localised dialogue targets a local audience.
