Thus, water management system is an important aspect to deal with limited water resource and increasing water demand. In this study, mathematical modelling is used to provide an optimization of the total cost of water from source to tap. In general, 4 components of water distribution are used to meet the population demand of water. These are water resources, water treatment, reservoir and consuming zones. The mathematical modellings are used to consider uncertainties which exist in several parameters of the water system. Some of them are leakage, cost and water demand. In this study, interval modelling is chosen to formulate the optimizing model for a Hamedan city of Iran. Moreover, interval-fuzzy programming is chosen to create a comparison study regarding the optimization and efficiency in dealing the uncertainties for the same case study. Both modelling will be inputted and simulated under Lingo Program. Through the observation and analysis, it can be concluded that both interval and interval-fuzzy programming acts as an effective measurement for managing water resource. In addition to that, interval-fuzzy programming is shown to be more effective and efficient approach in handling uncertainties.
