Considerable benefits including improving understanding of knowledge, transforming learning attitude , saving teachers’ time, and faster feedback have been enjoyed by both teachers and students. However, considering the time that teachers spent setting and printing the assessment questions and tons of paper used as answer sheets, it is crucial to find out an approach to make the peer-assessment system smarter, greener and more time efficient. Therefore, by integrating with Internet technologies, an online peer-assessment system is being developed for better teacher-student and student-student interactions. The Online Peer-Assessment System aims to provide users a more friendly and flexible assessment experience. Key features and functions including: 1. Fairer Assessment, all students’ assignments are to be assigned by the system randomly. The final grading is decided in consideration of each assessor’s grading and his/her assessing ‘credit’, instead of simply calculating the average. Instructor is authorized to make changes or overwrite students’ grade. 2. Configurable, teachers have all access to students’ assignments and are authorized to set all data and input (submission deadline, number of assessors, grading criteria weight, etc.). 3. Time saving, simplified steps for students and teachers to operate the system. Approximately 2-3 steps are required to complete one task for either side. 4. Automation, besides the mandatory inputs required, most actions including collecting and storing data, generating ranking lists and perform random assignments are performed by the system automatically. 5. Intelligence, the system will generate the ranking of assessors based on students’ assessing credit, it is largely affected by the outcome of analyzing each assessors’ behaviors. Any positive behaviors such as early submission or providing more valuable comments will increase the student’s assessing credit and the credit will drop if any negative behaviors recorded. Project No: A3063-‐141 ii The standard Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is applied throughout the development of this project, steps including analysis, specification, design, coding and implementation, testing and maintenance were performed systematically. OPAS Online Peer-Assessment System has been designed and developed based on web server. In addition to the basic functions required, the system also provides assessor and submitter behavioral analysis function.
