Over the recent years, Active Chilled Beams have become a popular alternative to traditional HVAC systems due to their numerous advantages such as cost savings, space savings and so on. ACB have been designed to satisfy heating and cooling demands in buildings based on the principle of convection and thermodynamics. The thermal load can be satisfied by varying the flow of cold water or hot water and passing conditioned air through the chilled beams to meet the latent and sensible loads. The project is centred on the development of AAT (Active air terminal) auto selection software for a customer, to provide a guided and intuitive means of selecting the best possible combination of chilled beams and active diffusers to satisfy their thermal load. This AAT software considers various factors such as psychometric conditions, psychometric process of sensible, latent load for both air side and water side design. The user is provided with a choice to use manual selection or an automatic selection between the number of Chilled Beams and Diffusers and their combination that would be required to satisfy the thermal load as indicated by them. For automatic selection, the best choice will be given according to the optimization method. All other functions in this auto selection software are done with visual basic codes and advanced excel functions.
