Description
Summary:The development of mobile application is growing at such a fast pace, with it becoming one of the fastest growing category in the mobility market today. The proliferation of mobile devices and the increasing trend of high mobile internet usage see great opportunities for businesses or organisations to make full use of this competitive advantage. Organizations can ride on the opportunities of mobile apps to reach out to their target groups, save cost and increase in overall efficiency and effectiveness. This project’s main objective is to develop a Windows Phone application that would assist charitable organisations. The project will focus on facilitating the donation of unwanted, but usable items to lower-income families. There is currently no such application in the market, thus it provides a good platform to bridge the gap between donors and the recipients. The application will firstly, consist of a login page, which requires users to create an account with the web application before they are able to use the app. After logging in, there is a menu page which consists of three other tabs directing to three different pages for browsing. These three pages are namely, the Donation page, the Transaction History page and the Organization page. The Donation page is for users to submit the details of items they wish to donate. The Transaction History page is to allow users to track their past donations and the Organization page is for users to know more about the charitable organisation they are donating to. To donate an item, it is as simple as linking up with the charitable organization through the app with one click and being ensured that the items are in good hands. With such an application, it is also more convenient for donors as well as for the third party organizations who manage the donated items. As for future works, the development of a Wishlist page would be appealing. It is where lower-income individuals can request for certain items and donors can simply donate the requested items through the use of the application. This application would definitely serve as a good platform for donors and the charitable organizations to interact more efficiently and effectively.
